After surgery your cornea is examined to ensure that the flap is in perfect position. Before you leave the laser center we will position clear plastic shields over your eyes. These shields are there to remind you not to rub your eyes. You will need to wear them until your first postoperative visit the following day and then only when you go to bed the following week. It is extremely important that you do not rub your eyes during the first month following your procedure. Rubbing your eyes may prevent your cornea from healing properly. Next you will be taken to the recovery area where your postoperative instructions are reviewed in detail with you and your caretaker and then you will be released.
