Hundreds of thousands of people have had LASIK successfully. However, as with any surgery, there are risks and possible complications to consider. LASIK may not give you perfect vision. If you have LASIK to correct distance vision you will still need reading glasses as you age. Wrinkles in the flap may occur after surgery. It is important that you do not rub your eyes for one month after surgery to avoid moving the flap. As with all surgery infection is a possibility. Use the antibiotic drops prescribed to you to avoid infection. LASIK surgery might not be reversible and most insurance does not cover the surgery. You will have an opportunity to discuss any concerns you have with Dr. Schanzlin while considering refractive surgery.
