David J. Schanzlin, M.D. has served as professor of ophthalmology and director of keratorefractive surgery at the Shiley Eye Center for 10 years. A leader in the field of keratorefractive surgery for over 26 years, he has dedicated his career to the development of various surgical corrections for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Praised by his colleagues, Dr. Schanzlin is consistently elected as one of the best doctors in America. Throughout his career, Dr. Schanzlin has performed over 15,000 refractive procedures. The following presentation will introduce you to the basics of refractive vision correction including available procedures and some of the risks and benefits associated with laser eye surgery. It will also take you through the initial exam, what to expect on the day of your surgery, and postoperative care. It is important that your decision to have surgery is an informed one.
